Technical monument and association for its rescue
Huť Šindelová
A stone blast furnace from 1818 in the Ore Mountains, which has been saved by a local association since 2015. History of the ironworks, story of rescue, photo archive and information on visiting.

The smelter in Šindelova is one of the few surviving monuments of iron production in charcoal blast furnaces. Today's blast furnace was built in 1818 and was the last one in the Ore Mountains to go out in 1873. Since April 2015 it has been taken care of by the Society for the Preservation of the Smelter in Šindelové, which turned the overgrown ruin into a restored monument. The website tells her story from the first hammers to a waterwheel replica from 2026.
01 / Challenge
A monument that needs a voice
The smelter has no fixed opening hours or price list, tours are arranged by phone. But it has a stone oven, a century-old history and over a hundred photos from the time before restoration, from brigades and after repairs. And it needs visitors, municipalities, the region and companies that support the restoration to know about it.
The website must therefore tell a story, not just inform: show the transformation of the ruin, thank the supporters and lead the visitor to the map and phone for a guide.
02 / Solution
The story of the smelter in ten chapters
The introduction guides the visitor through ten chapters: a place with memory, a timeline from the year 1350, transformation before and after restoration, people behind the rescue, architecture, image archive, association news, visit and thanks to partners. History, rescue, photo gallery, news, partners and visit have their own pages.
